Addition to the Green Building section: Cordwood

img_6086Earlier this summer we’ve added a first exhibit to the Green Building section.

Welcome cordwood, a building method that takes advantage of any available wood pieces, as long as they are all the same length. In our case, for demonstration purposes only, we made this wall 8″ thick. In case of a real house, it would be twice as thick.

Cordwood building method is very pleasant to look at, and it is quick to learn.

Some history of Cordwood building method: there are structures build using cordwood in Greece and in Siberia there are is thought to be at least 1000 years old.

This Cordwood exhibit puts GreenSpark one small step closer to the opening day in 2017
